Lynel
A Lynel does not share a camp. It patrols alone with a crusher, a sword or a spear, plus a bow that fires several arrows at once. Red is the first one you can learn. Silver is the same fight with less room for a mistake.
Headshot, mount, repeat
A face shot staggers it. Run to the side and press the mount button when the prompt appears. Hits while you are on its back do not cost weapon durability. You get five swings, then it throws you. Land, shoot the face again as it recovers, and mount once more.
The crusher's overhead slam and the spear thrust are vertical. Side-hop those for a flurry rush. The horizontal sword swing wants a backflip. Fire breath is a cone: sprint sideways, do not try to block it with a weak shield.
Gear, colors and the arrow you must not fire
An ancient arrow deletes a Lynel and drops nothing. Save it for Guardians. The Lynel bow, the weapon, and the hooves and guts are the reason you fought it. Savage Lynel bows from the stronger colors are the multi-shot bows used on Ganon.
Red, blue, white-maned and silver appear on the surface. Golden Lynels are Master Mode only. They keep the same tells. If you can mount a red one without getting hit, you can mount the rest. Eat an attack meal before the first face shot so the five mounted swings actually finish the red one.
